Die Ikonographie wird von I. Varbanov anders interpretiert: \"Two laureate athletes standing left, raising hands to touch wreaths; between, third athlete standing left between them, bending to apply oil from urn set on ground before him.\" Unsere Interpretation dieses Bildmotivs orientiert sich an U. Peter.
