Our colleague Chrisowalandis Deligio from the Big Data Lab at the University of Frankfurt am Main will give the first lecture of the Digital Classicists seminar this semester.
The title of his lecture "Natural language processing (NLP) on multilingual coin descriptions" is based on his master's thesis on the investigation of quality, data quality and transferability of NLP to other data sets, which he wrote together with Kermin Gencer.
The data from our Corpus Nummorum served as primary data source. As a result, the NLP approach was compared for the German and English descriptions. How can we change the image descriptions to facilitate iconographic labeling? Can the NLP training also be applied to Celtic coins, which are currently being studied in the ClaReNet project ("Classifications and representations for networks: from types and features to Linked Open Data in Celtic coinage")?
