Numismatists meet in Athens

There are two events that will attract digitally engaged numismatists to Athens in early May: the annual meeting of Nomisma.org at the École française d'Athènes and the Computer and Archaeology Conference “Digital Horizons: Embracing heritage in an evolving world” at the University of West Attica.

Imagines Nummorum will be present at both events. On the first day, we look forward to a lively and productive discussion on coin iconography and the ThING during the meeting of the Iconography Working Group. Naturally, we will also participate in the session on forgeries, where ongoing work has been done to refine the related terminology. On the following day, we will have the opportunity to present our portal and the new project to our Greek colleagues: "Corpus Nummorum and IMAGNUM – From corpus to iconography".
At the CAA conference, we will give a joint talk with Ethan Gruber, Karsten Tolle, and Peter van Alfen on the consolidation of monograms — and the new avenues of research this development now enables.
