Thanks to Sofia

Exciting days: Methodology conference and collection recording

We warmly thank our Bulgarian colleagues for their generous invitation to Sofia! Professors Dilyana Boteva, Julia Tzvetkova, and Lily Grozdanova enabled our participation in the important international conference "Researches of Ancient Thrace between Traditionality and Modernity: Theoretical Aspects and Scientific Methodology" from April 11-13, 2024. In a series of presentations, results from working with the Corpus Nummorum were presented.
Subsequently, we had the opportunity to document the outstanding collection of ancient Thracian coins by Dr. Stavri Topalov within five days. Here, we thank not only the collector but also our Bulgarian colleagues, who also provided us their Danner photo station, allowing us to photograph the 1670 coins simultaneously with two devices. Smooth operation was made possible by the countless arrangements and preparations by Valentina Grigorova-Gencheva and Lily Grozdanova, as well as the hands-on assistance on-site by Vladimir Bekov from the University of Veliko Tarnovo. We sincerely thank all involved parties – including the hospitality of Dr. Stavri Topalov and his wife – and are now preparing the material for publication.
