Public Commentary
This coin gives cause for doubt. The obverse die is the same like the coin https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10317490f, which was included in Henri Hoffmann's collection of modern forgeries (no. 50: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10462664v/f16.item). The declared fake obverse and stylistic features require further examination of the original coin. We would like to thank Ilya Prokopo for the consultation and important information in July 2024.
